We are retired and have widely varied life experiences. We both have graduate degrees and we have owned a number of homes which we have always improved, in many cases extensively. We are non-smokers and have no pets. Friends (and children) describe us as very organized, neat and clean.
We grew up in New England and lived for many years in the New York area and in New York City, and our last home was in Tucson, Arizona. We sold our Tucson home in May 2010 after a major renovation of the guest house and main house on which we acted as general contractors. We then spent the summer volunteering for the California State Parks and our commitment there was completed at the end of October 2010. From there we went to Medanales, New Mexico to house sit until mid March 2011. And, from there we went overseas until the fall of 2011. When we returned, we drove across this amazing country to Asheville, NC and loved it, so bought and renovated a home there - you can read about our adventures in travel and in subsequent house sitting experiences in the blog section of this web site.
Our working careers gave us considerable experience in problem solving and in managing people and projects - David in information technology in the insurance industry, Susan as a business owner, organizational consultant and realtor (involved in the development and sales of converted commercial buildings to residential buildings in NYC). We have both worked as volunteers in a variety of situations, and continue to devote considerable time volunteering, largely using the Internet.
We love to travel to new destinations, stay for longer periods of time and get to know both the physical area and the folks who live there.
We hope that you enjoy reading about our travels and experiences.
